Suite of Six George III Mahogany Dining Chairs, late 18th century, comprised of one armchair and five sidechairs, each with a pierced and carved splat, leaf-carved crest rail and raised on Marlborough legs, h. 38". Provenance: From the collection of Mr. and Mrs. James Britton, Houston, Texas, descended within the family.


  • Condition: In overall good condition. The chairs are generally tight and stable, and exhibit normal mars, wear, abrasions and wear consistent with age and use. The needlework upholstery on the slip seats is somewhat worn, but serviceable, with some scattered small light stains. The armchair is loose at the juncture of the front seat rail and a leg. There is slight play in an arm at the glue joints. Overall dimensions: H. 37-1/2", W. 32", D. 17". Height to top of set rail: 17". Height to top of upholstery on slip seat: approx. 18-1/2".
