Suite of Six Italian Painted Oak Dining Chairs
second half 19th century, each elaborately carved, the crest centered by a masque, the styles with carved atlantes, the legs with foliate-carved brackets and paw feet, now in gold damask upholstery.

Condition: **Normal wear, shrinkage and indications of age; the surface has been painted and rubbed/distressed.
All are tight in the back and legs. One rear leg has been repaired. White filler at the repair has not be over-painted to match the finish. The rear leg of another chair has a professionally executed splice. Another chair exhibits two screws on each side through the back legs into the seat rail. These are masked with fill, and on one the screw shows.
Upholstery is in very good condition. The slips seats are upholstered using plywood boards.
Each seat is 18-1/4" wide at its widest. The upholstered section of the seat is 16-1/2" wide.
NOTE: The paint obscures the wood. These appear to be walnut rather than oak.
