Three Good William IV Old Sheffield Plate Armorial Trays

second quarter 19th century, including:
a circular example with rocaille rim and four feet, the plateau engraved with shells and lattice, dia. 19-1/2";
a circular example with rococo scroll and rose rim and four scrolling acanthus feet, the plateau engraved with rococo scrolls on a matte ground, dia. 20"; and
a rectangular example with robust scroll rim and integral handles, with button feet, the plateau engraved with elaborate shells and scrolls, 33" x 19-1/4"
each with a rubbed-in blank engraved with a well-engraved armorial.

  • Provenance: The Collection of the Late Dr. E. Ralph Lupin, New Orleans, Louisiana.
  • Condition: **All trays are in quite good condition, with no dents, breaks or repairs and no bleeding to the copper. Some minor scratches on the plateaux, with some dings to the lead-filled rims and handles, with some very minor wear to the lead core in some tiny spots of the handles of the rectangular tray. Beautifully engraved and properly tinctured armorials. No maker's or manufacturer's marks. A superlative collection.
