Two Early American Lathe-Turned Carver Armchairs

17th century, New England, with spindle backs, turned finials and rush seats.

  • Condition: **Both chairs are in overall very good condition, exhibiting the mars, scrubs, shrinkage and wear to be expected with their age and use.

    The replaced rush seats on both are in very good condition.

    Broader Chair:
    Tight at the joints.
    There are a number of chips to the lowermost turning of the finials atop the stiles.

    Narrower Chair:
    Exhibits some looseness at the glue joints.
    One finial atop a stile has a loose break.
