Two George III Lowboys

including a walnut example, fourth quarter 18th century, with a banded and rounded rectangular top, quarter-veneered and above a case fitted with two small drawers over a single drawer, raised on cabriole legs ending in pad feet, h. 28-1/2", w. 28", d. 17", and a mahogany and walnut example, fourth quarter 18th century and later, with a rectangular top above a conforming case fitted with two long drawers over two short drawers, raised on cabriole legs ending in pad feet, h. 28", w. 29-1/2", d. 17".


  • Condition: **Both lowboys are in good refinished and restored condition, with normal wear, mars, shrinkage and indications of age and use. Both are sturdy and functional.

    Example A - Walnut with inlaid stringing:
    The top exhibits a number of repairs, most notably lines that appear to be filled insect damage, tight shrinkage cracks, minor veneer repairs and mars.
    Drawers slide freely.
    The brasses appear to be original.

    Example B - Walnut and mahogany, larger example:
    Drawers slide freely. Locks present; no key. The drawer brasses are later replacements.
