Two Georgian Sterling Silver Ladles, one hallmarked Dublin, 1789, by John Pittar, in the traditional "Old English Bright Cut" pattern, engraved with a crest of a hawk displayed, l. 13-1/4", the other Edinburgh, 1820-1821, by William Robertston II, in the traditional "Hanoverian" pattern, l. 14", 10.44 total t. oz.

  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. The expected surface wear - scuffs, scrapes and dings - consistent with age and use. The Edinburgh ladle has a crack on the stem (which does not extend to the opposing side) at the date letter, and probably caused by its striking. The Dublin ladle has a narrow 1/2" gray line extending into the bowl from the side of the stem, probably a repaired split; there is also a negligible pinpoint dent in the bowl. Each piece appropriately hallmarked; the Edinburgh example fully legible, the Dublin example well-worn but legible, though the maker's mark is only partly legible.
