Two Japanese Ivory Okimono Carvings


  • Condition: 19th Century. Both exhibit some uneven patina throughout. Both have some abrasion due to age, handling and display. Figure of man with two boys: Arms of boy on the right and the man are on hinges and once moved, three figures were affixed to base separately, boy on right and man are glued in place, repair to fan in man's hand. No noticeable cracks. Figure with monkeys: Hairline crack in bough, top leaf above figure's raised hand is chipped, leaf by lower left monkey's extended arm appears to have been lost. No clear repairs.
