Two Louisville, Kentucky Coin Silver Julep Cups

third quarter 19th century, one by William Kendrick, h. 3-5/8", dia. 3", the other by Peter Lewis Krider (1820-1895) of Philadelphia for Joseph Werne, Jr. (1837-1903), h. 3-1/4", dia. 2-7/8", each of traditional tapering cylindrical form with molded rim and base.

  • Condition: **In generally good condition, both with surface scuffs and dings consistent with age and use, but no breaks, splits or repairs. The Kendrick example has two shallow dents on the body, one 3/8" and one 1/4" with two other minor dents; there are some nicks on the rim, which is slightly out-of-round due to a 3/4" flat spot. No inscriptions/monograms or removals noted. Signed (on the underside) "W. Kendrick [doubling overstrike]/ Louisville" and "J. Werne / Louisville / Ky. / *P.L.K* / Standard".
