Unusual Gilt-Bronze and Japanese Porcelain Chandelier

fourth quarter 19th century, French, the twelve-light chandelier with a standard comprised of Arita porcelain with a persimmon ground, mounted with pierced and scrolled gilt-bronze arms set with matching candle cups and drip pans, and gilt-bronze chains hung from the upper trim, set with a bronze cone-form pendant finial.

  • Provenance: Estate of Thomas Eugene Long, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
  • Condition: **In "as found" condition. The porcelain elements appear to be fine with no damage. The wiring is new and runs along the outside of the arms. We are uncertain as to whether it functions. All of the custom flame bulbs are burned out.
