Unusual Provincial Louis XV-Style Fruitwood Vaisselier

mid-19th century, the domed and molded cornice above a central arched glazed cupboard centered with a clock and with a long bi-paneled cupboard below, flanked to either side by two plate racks over a single cupboard and single shorter rack, the lower section with a rounded rectangular top over three drawers and three cupboard doors, each inset with a shaped panel over a scalloped apron, raised on splayed, pointed feet.

  • Condition: **In very good polished and restored condition. The case exhibits a number of blemishes and mars, shrinkage, wear and some indications of past insect damage, the holes now filled. Taken together they create an attractive, somewhat distressed patina.

The base appears sturdy and solid, with no side-to-side movement observed.

The doors in the base open and close freely. They retain their locks and a key that works, though it is a bit persnickety.

The enameled clock dial has some chips along its perimeter edge including small chips at the key holes. Key, pendulum and weights are present. Works appear to be complete.
