Vernacular American Parquetry-Inlaid Oak, Walnut and Horn Games Table, ca. 1900, the square parquetry top centered by a checkerboard, each corner with an inlaid heart, diamond, club or spade denoting the suits of a deck of playing cards, on a base formed by joined steer horns, the top and base of like date, though possibly associated, h. 28-1/4", w. 30-3/4", d. 30-3/4".

  • Condition: In good as-found condition. The piece exhibits normal wear, shrinkage and indications of age and use. The old finish is fairly thin. There is some shrinkage to the inlaid elements of the top, creating very thin-line gaps between some pieces. There is a small loss of fnish on the top, about 3/8" wide by 2 1/4" long. The base wobbles/exhibits movement if the table is shaken. The top appears to have been with the base since new. They may not be by the same hand.
