Victorian Silverplate and Glass Epergne

second quarter 19th century, the large baluster standard above a plinth base and lion's paw feet, with four scrolling arms, one central and four surrounding later glass baskets.
overall h. 13", w. 15-1/2"

  • Condition: **Extensive wear to the surface detail with the lead core exposed in many places, but well-concealed by later cosmetic electroplating. The interior of one of the four central receptacle supports is split at the join but structurally sound. Scattered bumps and dings consistent with age and use. Replacement glass baskets are in good condition with a few nicks and frits, but no significant chips or cracks. A well-used but still decorative piece.
