Victorian Sterling Silver Tea Tray

hallmarked Birmingham, 1899-1900, by Barker Brothers, oval with "Chippendale" rim and rocaille edge, with addorsed acanthus-mounted reeded handles, the plateau with a wide engraved rococo scroll, shell and flower band centering the crest of Smith of Braco and Methven, the whole raised on four acanthus-scroll feet.

  • Condition: **An attractive piece with no condition issues noted beyond the surface scuffs associated with age and use. Nice detail and engraving; amusing crest of a dolphin haurient. Hallmarked (on the underside) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the Birmingham anchor; 3) the date letter "Z" for 1899-1900; and 4) the "BB" maker's mark of Barker Brothers. Marks excellent.
