Monumental Vion et Baury Biscuit Porcelain Figure of a Classical Water Bearer 1868-1879, either the Paris or Choisy-le-Roi location, marked with the company's distinctive "VB" lilac pad mark, h. 46-1/2", w. 14", d. 16".

  • Condition: The serene face and details overall beautifully modeled. Typical scattered firing cracks and anomalies. Professional restorations at the neck (with a subsequent fine hairline around the jaw), the forward toes, the area of the base below and around them and the strappy foliage behind this foot (with a loss to one leaf tip further back and a restoration to one cattail). The original seam around the center section across the buttocks is visible. This figure was displayed outside by the consignor and, as a result, exhibits scattered minor surface weathering and old dirt within the old firing cracks (see online photos). All of the above consistent with age and large size.
