West Indies Mahogany Serving Table

  • Condition: In overall very good condition. Tight and solid. The top exhibits several shrinkage lines, wear, a small wood patch along a side edge, and several small spots that appear to be putty obscuring a nail or screw hole. There are no apparent indications that this table was formerly fitted with a rear splash or gallery. There is a loss to the faux cock-beading at the edge of one of the faux bowed drawers, about 3/4" long. NOTE: There is only one central drawer. The bowed end sections are made to appear to be drawers, but are not. Accompanying the lot is a partial copy of the sale list for the Roscoe Clayton sale, of which this is believed to be one of several "sideboards". There are also later family household inventories identifying this piece as a "mahogany carving table, Jamaica".
