William IV Mahogany Bowfront Chest, mid-19th century, the bowed top with turreted corners, above a conforming case fitted with two short drawers over three graduated long drawers, flanked to either side by reeded uprights, raised on turned bulbous feet, h. 44", w. 49-1/2", d. 23".


  • Condition: Tight and solid. No wobble if shaken vigorously. Normal wear, mars and abrasions consistent with age and use. The finish is very thin and worn on the top and the sides. The two middle drawers exhibit abrasion losses to the rails separating the drawers where the locks were not fully retracted and rubbed when opening and closing. Drawers open and close smoothly. There is a reeded molding at the bottom edge of the case. It is missing from one return, and about 6" of it is missing from the back of the other return.
