William IV Mahogany Sideboard

second quarter 19th century, the long rectangular breakfront top above a conforming case fitted with a central drawer flanked to either side by a cupboard with inlaid banding, raised on tapering square legs ending in spade feet.
h. 37-1/2", w. 83-1/2", d. 33"

  • Condition: **In good "as found" condition. The piece exhibits normal mars, dings, shrinkage and wear consistent with age and use.

The top has a number of modest stains, mars and scratches, and an area of lifted finish about 4" in diameter. The finish appears to be mostly wax.

The case is tight and sturdy with no movement observed at the joints where legs and case meet.

The doors and drawers retain their locks; no key. The pulls are later replacements in the period style. The doors are both somewhat warped.

There is a veneer loss to the vertical edge of the top, about 1/2" wide and 1-1/2" high. Evidence of normal past minor veneer repairs.
