William IV Mahogany Writing Chair second quarter 19th century, the tufted padded rectangular back surmounted by a scrolling incised pattern, joined to the like padded seat by flat arms, one fitted with an adjustable brass rod holding a paneled mahogany writing surface, raised on large turned circular legs to casters, h. 42".

  • Condition: The chair is in good original condition; an old leather surface with expected wear, cracks and scattered sun fading. The leather is intact. The back ratchet works very well. The writing surface is missing the holder that fits on its long side. It is a bit loose and slopes some to the left, but all metal parts are intact and working. No apparent damage or losses to the wood other than scattered rubbing commensurate with age.
