  • Condition: **Lower part of the right edge of paper is coming out of the mat and the paper is buckling there. It appears that it needs to be re-matted. The work was examined outside of the frame; it exhibits some additional buckling, a few pin pricks to the lower corners (consistent with having been previously hung). Work also has innate flaws- the artist heavily worked the piece, scoring the cheeks and part of the face which has created a burr like effect in some area of the paper- there is also a small tear visible en verso that was also made in the execution of the work as some of the ink spills through it. There are minor specks of foxing in upper left (white) area. The mat, which appears to be a type of gypsum, exhibits fine cracks and some soiling. Frame with marks, nicks and abrasions. Additional photographs available upon request.
