American Classical Mahogany Triple-Pedestal Dining Table

first quarter 19th century, Philadelphia, with a pair of D-ends, the top with a reeded edge, supported by pedestals with a reeded urn joined to double-reeded saber legs terminating in brass paw cup casters, each pedestal apron adorned with raised burlwood panels, with two leaves.
h. 28-1/4", w. 52", l. 67", ext. l. 113"

  • Condition: **The table with exceptional single-board figured leaves, showing wear at the edges, slight rounding at the corners, a couple small splices at inside edges of the leaves, and a few tight shrinkage cracks that extend in up to about 4" from the edge. One D-end exhibits lighter color and less dramatic color contrast in the figuring of the wood. The plum pudding and figured grain is consistent with the rest of the top, suggesting it is probably sun bleached or, at worst, a very good replacement.

The finish exhibits normal light scratches, mars, wear and indications of age and use. There is an area of blushed finish on the top.

The assembled table is solid and stable.

The framing beneath the top of the center section exhibits indications of restorations.
