American Federal Tiger Maple Chest, early 19th century, the case with four graduated drawers, each with oval brass bail pulls, raised on bracket feet, h. 42-1/2", w. 37", d. 19".

  • Condition: In overall good condition. Retaining old embedded finish and dirt at the low points, and an old surface that has been partially cleaned and polished sometime in the past. The case is tight and solid. The back retains its original vertical boards, the bottom shows the piece retains its original feet and blocking. The top retains old pegs securing it to the case. There is a narrow straight line shrinkage gap at the seam of two boards. Drawers open and close smoothly. The pulls presently fitted on the piece fit the old drillings in the drawers. Some of the posts sit at a slight angle. Posts appear to be later. These may be original pulls with replaced posts, or very good, perfectly sized old replacements. All drawers are missing their locks. There is a splinter loss to the beaded edge at the corner of one drawer, about 1-1/4" long and perhaps 1/8" deep.
