ca. 1870, New York, the backboard with a marquetry-inlaid panel depicting birds, ribbons and flora in anticipation of later Aesthetic Movement themes, the case with panels of banded inlay separated by projecting panels with inlaid moths, over a pair of doors with inlaid panels depicting anthemia, vases and foliage, flanked by leaf, flower and vine panels, each side with an inlaid panel depicting floral and ribbons.
