Provenance: By oral tradition, the present display case was found in a New Orleans store.

  • Condition: **In very good "as found" condition.

The piece is extremely stable and appears sturdy.

There is normal rubbing and wear throughout, most notably to the edges of the wooden base. Normal oxidation to metal elements.

There is a shallow chip, about 3/8" x 1-1/2" on the edge of one of the small upper corner pieces of glass, largely obscured by the metal framework. No other cracks, chips or breaks to the glass noted.

A later lock and key are present for the upper section.

The thick marble exhibits a crack from an outside edge extending about 4" in. There are a few scattered small chips and surface irregularities, and a shallow surface crack.
