English Soft-Paste Porcelain Figure of Salacia, third quarter 18th century, attributed to Derby, with patch marks, on a matching stand, both richly decorated with encrusted shells and seaweed, Salacia riding astride a dolphin, a cupid at her side, h. 14", dia. 6-1/4".


  • Condition: The base has a 1-1/2" diameter opening at both ends that had innate firing cracks that opened up overtime and have been repaired (filled). There is also a 1" x 1/2" loss near one of the openings. There is also a firing crack to the underside base of the figural group. Previous professional repairs were done to Salacia's knees, arms and swag, as well as Cupid's right arm and the dolphin's tail. Some flaking and discoloration is present at places of restoration. There are also some small scattered losses to the seaweed and shellwork.
