Set of Four George III Sterling Silver Entree Dishes hallmarked London, 1799-1804, by Richard Cook, each of rounded rectangular form with gadrooned rim and reeded ring handle, engraved on the lid with the arms of Sennock/Sevenocke of Layston, co. Hertfordshire, h. 5-1/4", w. 8-1/4", l. 11-1/2", 247.02 total t. oz.


  • Condition: Good. Each piece shows the expected patina of age: light scuffs, scratches and dings. Individual condition of each dish (as identified by their part-matching pips) as follows. Dish 1: The lid has an 8mm pinpoint dent at one corner. The base has a straight 10mm dent at one underside corner. Dish 2: The lid has a 15mm oval dent at one corner and a 10mm oval dent at another. Dish 3: The handle-mounting boss on the lid detached but present. The base has a very shallow 10mm oval dent on one underside edge. Dish 4: The lid has a 20mm oval dent at one corner. Nice engraved arms and crest (the latter on the interior side of each dish). Each piece hallmarked (on the exterior edge of the lid and dish) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head; 3) the date letter "D" for 1799-1800 (two lids/dishes) or "I" for 1804-1805 (two lids/dishes); 4) the George III bust duty mark; and 5) the "RC" maker's mark of Richard Cook.
