George II Sterling Silver Gilt Salver, hallmarked London, 1736-1737, by Robert Abercromby, of circular form, with "Chippendale" rim and four scroll feet, engraved with a wide rococo band of cartouches of alternating female masques and flower baskets on an imbricate ground and centering a saracen-, eagle- and serpent-mantled cartouche with princely monogram "A", dia. 20", 81.34 t. oz.


  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. Some scattered scuffs and surface scratches, but no dents, breaks or repairs. Losses to the gilding at the sharp edges, particularly the rim and feet. Excellent engraving. Hallmarked (on the underside) with: 1) the London crowned leopard's head; 2) the sterling lion passant; 3) the date letter "a" for 1736-1737; and 4) the crowned "RA" maker's mark of Robert Abercrombie [Grimwade 2254].
