Regency Paul Storr (1771-1844) Sterling Silver Wine Coaster, hallmarked London, 1813-1814, of circular form with acanthus-and-shell border, raised on four scroll-crested lion's paw feet, engraved on the plateau with the crest of Slade of Trevennen-in-Gorran, co. Cornwall, dia. 6-5/8", 8.63 t. oz.

  • Condition: Overall Condition: Fair The plateau is noticeably thinner than the rest of the piece, and has clearly been married to it; solder marks around the perimeter and part hallmarks on the underside confirm this. Very probably the plateau was cut from the liner of a wine cooler (preserving the original Storr marks) and inserted into a waiter of similar date to form a wine coaster. The condition is good and the assemblage professional. Hallmarked (on the underside) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the date letter "S" for 1813-1814; 3) the George III bust duty mark; and 4) the "PS" maker's mark of Paul Storr. No city mark as noted. Additionally marked "1043" and "876464".
