George III Irish Sterling Silver Covered Cup

hallmarked Dublin, 1793, by Joseph Jackson, the ovoid body with fluted calyx and repousse flowerhead banding, with acanthus-crested arched handle and steeply domed fitted lid with vasiform finial and raised on a conforming pedestal foot, the foot and lid banded en suite.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition, with no issues noted beyond the expected minor surface scuffs, nicks, dings and wear consistent with age; no dents, breaks or repairs noted. Hallmarked (on the body, near the rim) with: 1) the sterling harp; 2) the Dublin Hibernia; 3) the "W" date letter for 1793; and 4) the "I.I" maker's mark of Joseph Jackson; the lid part-marked on the sleeve with the harp and Hibernia. Marks worn but legible.
