George III Mahogany Breakfront Bookcase, 19th century, in the Adam taste, the molded and dentillated cornice above a conforming case fitted with four astragal-glazed doors, each within a bellflower-inlaid banding, the lower section with floral garland-inlaid banding above four paneled cupboard doors, each with a finely inlaid classical urn within an oak leaf wreath, the two end cupboards opening to four graduated drawers, the central two opening to pull-out shelves, the whole raised on a plinth base, h. 100", w. 97", d. 24". Provenance: The Estate of Elaine Smith Frost White, Houston, Texas and East Hampton, New York.


  • Condition: Structurally sound with an old amber patina. There are a few missing dentils to the cornice, and several which have lost their veneered fronts. The top of the base has typical minor scattered wear, scuffs and dents commensurate with age. The sides have tight shrinkage cracks. Re-veneers are in very good condition with no losses.
