1275

Pair of George III Mahogany Demi-lune Side Tables, fourth quarter 18th century, each with a banded demi-lune top with a central inlaid patera and an inlaid scalloped border, above a conforming frieze with banded panels and inlaid foliate cartouches, raised on tapering square legs ending in spade feet, h. 34", w. 53", d. 21". Provenance: The Estate of Elaine Smith Frost White, Houston, Texas and East Hampton, New York.

  • Condition: Top and sides with modest shrinkage, exhibiting structure under the veneer. Some finish lifting on one section of the skirt. Shrinkage, especially to the satinwood crossbanding, is commensurate with age. Typical minor dents to the tops, which have supports added underneath. Structurally sound. The spade feet are probably re-veneered.
