George III Mahogany Gainsborough Chair, fourth quarter 18th century, the padded slightly domed back joined by scrolling arms to the padded seat, raised on molded square legs with carved paneling and foliate accents, joined by a fret-pierced H-form stretcher and ending in molded feet, h. 38-1/2". Provenance: The Estate of James C. Westerfield, Jackson, Mississippi.


  • Condition: In overall very good condition. Nice surface that has been polished. Normal minor shrinkage, wear and abrasions consistent with age and use. Tight and solid. The front cross stretcher may be replaced. Upholstery in very good to excellent condition.
