George III Sterling Silver Mug, hallmarked London, 1781-1782, by Edward Fernell (1747-1802; free 1769), of traditional baluster form, with crested double-scroll handle and beaded foot ring, h. 5-1/2", dia. 3-3/4", l. 5-1/2", 12.59 t. oz.


  • Condition: Good. A 1-1/2" creased dent on the body, near the rim on the side opposite the handle, and a shallow 1/2" dent on the outer edge of the foot. Otherwise very good, with scattered surface scuffs, scrapes and pips commensurate with age. No monograms/armorials or removals. Hallmarked (on the underside) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head; 3) the date letter "f" for 1781-1782; and 4) the "E.F" maker's mark of Edward Fernell. Marks excellent.
