Good Whiting Gilded Age Sterling Silver Water Pitcher

fourth quarter 19th century, of shaped serpentine-sided rectangular section, decorated with embossed acanthus and fern scrolls, with an arched handle en suite, the integral spout with an acanthus-mantled classical maiden masque.

  • Condition: **There is a solder-repaired 2-1/2" vertical split at the upper edge of one corner, and a similar 1/2" repair at one foot. There is 3/8" dia. dimple on the body near the rim. Otherwise in good condition, with light surface wear commensurate with age and use. No monograms or removals. Lovely detail. Marked on the underside with the "W-chimera" Whiting trademark and "Sterling / 2190 / 5-1/2 Pints". Very attractive.
