Large George IV Sterling Silver Salver

hallmarked London, 1825-1826, by Robert Garrard II (1793-1881; free 1816), of octagonally serpentine-lobed circular form, with gadrooned edge and raised on four robust acanthus scroll feet, the plateau engraved with the crest of Wyndham et al.

  • Condition: **In overall quite good condition, with no issues beyond the expected light scuffs, scrapes, dings and wear to the border relief commensurate with age and use. Four small annealing/raising scars on the underside, the largest 1/4". Nice engraved crest. Hallmarked (on the underside) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London leopard's head; 3) the date letter "k" for 1825-1826; 4) the George IV bust duty mark; and 5) the crowned "RG" maker's mark of Robert Garrard. Marks excellent. Additionally stamped: "Garrard's / Panton Street / London". A beautiful piece.
