Louis XVI-Style Mahogany Dressing Table

late 19th century, the hinged rectangular top banded and centered by a brass-inlaid burl panel, opening to a mirrored bird's-eye maple interior fitted with storage space and a single long drawer, raised on fluted tapering circular legs headed by a turned column, joined by an X-form stretcher and ending in bun feet.

  • Condition: **In overall good condition. The piece appears to be in a French-polished original finish, with normal mars, wear, shrinkage and indications of age and use.

    The legs are tight and the table stable.

    The top exhibits an area of thin, or absent finish.

    There is a thumbnail-size veneer loss with un-colored filler to the vertical edge of the top..

    The lock and lock plate are present; a key is not.

    The stretcher exhibits a repaired break to one arm, with a stabilizing brace on its underside. There are veneer losses to the stretchers of about 3/8" by 1" and 3/8" by 1-1/4". A brass edge molding is missing from the back side of the central stretcher panel.
