Pair of American Rococo Revival Laminated Rosewood Armchairs

third quarter 19th century, attributed to J. H. Belter, New York, each with a concave back with a floral- and leaf-carved crest, open arms, serpentine seat and cabriole legs, in the pattern known as "Rosalie without Grapes".

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition.

    The chairs exhibits a few normal minor flakes to the edges of carved surfaces. Normal minor rubbing, wear and signs of age and use.

    Tight and solid, with no apparent breaks or repairs to the arms or legs.

    The back of one chair exhibits a few small, pinpoint veneer losses. The other chair a few more, and a small area of what looks like old burn-in shellac filler.
    Upholstery is in good, serviceable condition with some light stains to seat, and some subtle fading to the color beneath the arms on one side.
