Two Colonial Revival Sinumbra-Style Metal and Glass Lamps

including a silverplate example with a fluted standard over molded leaves, hung with prisms, on a marble base, h. 32-3/4", dia. 11-1/2", and a polished brass example with a vasiform standard, hung with prisms, on a stepped base, h. 26-1/2", dia. 10", each with a handsome frosted and cut glass sinumbra shade.

  • Condition: **In overall good estate condition. Both lamps are electrified. The brass example is from the late 20th century; it never had an oil font. The silverplate example is probably fourth quarter 19th century; its font is intact, but it is lacking all burner parts, and the arms (on the underside) appear to have been re-soldered. The lamp is so dark that it is difficult to ascertain tarnish from plating loss. Lamp standard and base likely exhibit both. Both lamps have minor scratches, scuffs and nicks. Shades are intact. The shade on the silverplate lamp has minute loss and chips to its fitter rim - as is to be expected with age and use.
