fourth quarter 19th century, English or American, inlaid with bellflowers laid out in the form of a shield over ebony-inlaid crossed arrows, the ratcheted covers opening to reveal fitted interiors.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition with nominal wear, mars and abrasions.

    The marquetry is in very good condition with no damage noted. There are some losses to the fine dark-wood stringing on the edge of the knife slots in the interior.

    No key present.

    One lid does not stay up as the wooden catches to hold it in the upright position appear worn.

    One box exhibits evidence of a repaired break at the narrowest turning where it meets the square base.
