Pair of George II Sterling Silver Candlesticks

  • Condition: Overall Condition: Fair. The bases of both have numerous pips, dings and scratches. One candlestick has a 1/2" shallow dent on the lower basal edge, and the wooden insert on the underside of this same candlestick has a crack, though the insert is secure. The lower edges of the interior bobeche sleeves are crimped around the circumference. Nice and unusual crest. Each hallmarked (on the basal edge) with 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head, 3) the date letter "D" for 1759-1760; and 4) the "ER" maker's mark of Emick Romer. The bobeches part-marked with the sterling lion passant only. Each with scratch-weight on the top of the nozzle: "15-3" and "15-4" ("oz.-dwt.")
