Pair of George III Sterling Silver Waiters, hallmarked London, 1779-1780, by Richard Rugg II (1749-ca. 1800; free 1770), each circular with bright-cut rim and beaded edge and raised on three claw-and-ball feet, engraved with a pricked cartouche centering the arms of Perring of Membland, Devon, dia. 8", 26.26 total t. oz.


  • Condition: In generally good condition, with moderate wear to the details and scattered surface scrapes, scuffs and dings. No breaks or repairs. Loss to the details of the armorials from centuries of polishing. Hallmarked (on the underside) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head; 3) the date letter "d" for 1779-1780; and 4) the "R.R" maker's mark of Richard Rugg. Marks excellent.
