Regency Sterling Silver Fruit Stand

hallmarked London, 1812-1813, by Benjamin Smith II, the oval frame with shell-and-palmette banding supported by four monopodal sphinxes above a canted navette plinth with leaf-and-dart banding and winged lion's paw feet, the plinth engraved with the arms of Baronet Coote, the glass liner lacking.

Notes: The arms here are those of Sir Charles Henry Coote, 9th Bt. (1794-1864) of Ballyfin, Mountrath. He served as M.P. for Queen's County, Ireland from 1821-1847 and again 1852-1859.


  • Condition: **In overall good condition. Two of the bolts that secure the feet below are lacking. Some wear to facial features on the monopodal sphinxes. Some minor nicks, scratches and dents to inside of fruit stand band. Condition is commensurate with age and use.
