Seven-Piece Collection of Paris Porcelain

ca. 1825, from the Rufus King dessert service, comprised of a pair of bateau-form corbeilles, h. 10-1/2", w. 13-1/2", d. 8", a pair of circular corbeilles, h. 8-1/2", dia. 8-1/2", and three shell dishes, w. 8-1/4", d. 9-1/2", decorated with hand-painted brown grapevines on a buff-colored ground, attributed to Deroche, based on other examples from the service.


Notes: King was a soldier and statesman from Massachusetts. The service was purportedly ordered from Paris for use at the consulate when he went to London in 1825. King died the following year.


  • Condition: **In very good condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. Some very minor scattered wear to gilding. The bolts replaced in the two boat-shaped corbeilles.
