Victorian Sterling Silver Fruit Bowl, hallmarked London, 1876-1877, by Frederick Brasted (1828-1888; free 1851), of circular form, with two openwork ovolo bands, the upper with beaded edges, joined by scrolling flat column legs decorated with paterae and bellflowers and joined by laurel swags centering ribbon-crested neoclassical profile medallions, fitted with a conforming prism-cut glass liner, h. 5-1/4", dia. 8-3/4", 27.90 t. oz. (excluding glass liner).


  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. No dents, breaks or repairs noted. Scattered surface wear consistent with age and use. Faint traces of gilding. Hallmarked (on one of the flat column legs) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London leopard's head; 3) the date letter "A" for 1876-1877; 4) the Victoria's bust duty mark; and 5) the "FB" maker's mark of Frederick Brasted. Glass liner good with no chips or cracks noted.
