William IV Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy, second quarter 19th century, on bun feet, the caddy with a segmented exterior with metal line inlay and contrasting tortoiseshell on the sides and back, the segmented cover with a raised panel, concealing a two-compartment interior, with covers set with mother-of-pearl knops, h. 5", w. 8", d. 4". Provenance: The Estate of James C. Westerfield, Jackson, Mississippi.


  • Condition: In overall good condition. A 3" professional, well-done repair to rear edge of lid. Some light cracking to sides and back of case, notably around the hinges. Loss to inside rim/lip of lid that is mildly visible on the left-facing corner. Small professional (2/3") repair to lid rim. Minor nicks/losses to lidded compartment edges. Condition is as to be expected with age and use.
