William IV Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy

second quarter 19th century, with an oxbow-shaped facade and cove-molded cover, the interior fitted with a pair of lidded compartments, raised on bun feet.

  • Condition: **In overall very good condition.
    Exterior with typical scattered minor restorations primarily to corners and edges along with a minor surface anomaly or two, all polished out. The rear cover with several restored surface cracks above both hinges, now with filler and polished out.
    The lidded compartments retain remnants of the original paktong lining. The knob of one cover slightly smaller than the other.
    All of the above consistent with age and use.
