Early Victorian Sterling Silver Salver

hallmarked London, 1845-1846, by Edward, Edward Jr., John & William Barnard, of circular form with elaborate "Chippendale" rim accented with acanthus leaves and raised on four Spanish scroll feet, the plateau engraved and chased with a broad floral scroll band centering the arms of Griffiths.

  • Condition: **A fine piece in very good condition, with no issues noted other than the expected light surface wear commensurate with age. Attractive engraving, both on the decoration and the elaborate armorial. Hallmarked (on the underside edge) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London leopard's head; 3) the date letter "k" for 1845-1846; 4) the Victoria's bust duty mark; and 5) the "EE/JW/B" maker's mark of the Barnard firm; additionally marked "438"; marks very good.
