Good George Wickes (1698-1761) Sterling Silver Condiment Urn, hallmarked London, 1748-1749, the ovoid body decorated with applied coquilles and openwork reeded scroll banding, with quartered gadrooned calyx, the waisted collar with gadrooned rim and fitted with a domed lid and flammiform finial, the whole raised on a domed foot en suite, engraved with a crest of a hawk rising, h. 7-1/2", dia. 4", 14.76 t. oz.


  • Condition: In quite good condition with no issues noted other than the expected scattered dings, scuffs and light wear to the relief associated with age and use. No breaks or repairs noted. Hallmarked (on the body, within the stem) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London crowned leopard's head; 3) the date letter "n" for 1748-1749; and 4) the crowned "GW" maker's mark of George Wickes. Marks excellent.
