Late Georgian Sterling Silver Platter
hallmarked London, 1805-1806, by William Fountain (1762-1838; free 1785), of oval form with gadrooned edge, engraved on the rim with the crest and arms of the Earl of Aberdeen.
22-1/4" x 17"; 99.35 t. oz.
Notes: Given the date of the hallmarks, the arms here are presumably those of George Hamilton-Gordon (1784-1860), who became the 4th Earl of Aberdeen in 1801 and served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, 1852-1855.
