Regency West Country Three-Piece Sterling Silver Tea Set, hallmarked Exeter, 1814, by Simon Harris, including a teapot, h. 5-1/2", l. 11-1/2", an open sugar bowl, h. 4-1/2", l. 8-1/4", and a cream jug, h. 4", l., 6", each of rounded rectangular section with a bulbous gadrooned lower half and molded collar, with narrow milled gadrooned and foliate banding, crested square handles and raised on four spherical feet, 36.13 total t. oz. Provenance: The Estate of Karolyn Kuntz Westervelt, New Orleans, Louisiana.


  • Condition: Overall Condition: Good. No condition issues noted beyond the expected surface wear consistent with age and use; no dents, breaks or repairs noted. One sugar bowl handle is very slightly out of true. The underside of the teapot feet are worn and showing the hollow interior. Replacement insulator on the teapot lid. Each piece hallmarked with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the Exeter towers; 3) the date letter "S" for 1814; 4) the cusped George III bust duty mark; and 5) the "SH" maker's mark of Simon Harris. The teapot marked on the underside, with the lid and handle part-marked; marks nice and clean. The sugar bowl and creamer marked on the side and both slightly rubbed and/or incompletely struck.
